Kevin S. Ward, Associate Attorney

Kevin Ward is an associate attorney with DDV Law, Ltd.  He is a former Assistant State’s Attorney where he spent significant time in the courtroom handling the prosecution of felony and misdemeanor criminal cases, including both jury trials and bench trials. Kevin excels with his work in the courtroom and currently handles contested guardianship and probate cases for DDV. With respect to special needs law, Kevin handles advocacy with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in schools for students throughout the Chicagoland area and special needs planning for parents of children with special needs. 

After obtaining his Bachelor’s of Science degree at the University of Missouri, Kevin continued his educational journey at the Southern Illinois University School of Law where he ultimately earned his Juris Doctorate. During law school, Kevin was an active member of the student body, holding multiple leadership roles as well as President of the Student Bar Association. Kevin also received honors as the second overall oralist and semifinalist in the Fall Moot Court competition at SIU school of law.

Kevin is an active member of the community working hard on the Leadership Council of the Special Olympics and has a special devotion to disability rights advocacy. Kevin is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Disability Rights Association.  He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association – Elder Law Section and Probate Law Section, the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association – Disability Law section. 

Kevin hails from the Rockford area and enjoys fitness, travel, trying new things and spending time with family and friends. As a former Mizzou hockey player, Kevin is a diehard fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and all things Chicago sports.

Mr. Ward also serves on the Leadership Board for the Special Olympics and provides advocacy for parents of children with special needs through Individualized Education Planning.
